96 BOYS COME HOME WITH 2ND TITLE IN A ROW!

On October 22, Extreme 96 Blue came away Champions once again, this time in Topeka, KS at the 2006 Fall Governor's Cup. Out of 16 teams in the Gold Division, the 96 boys made a clean sweep of the competition winning 5 games. The final was again a nailbiter. Regulation ended with a 5-5 tie, went through 1 five minute overtime period, and with only a minute to go in the 2nd overtime period, Nick Hrdlicka put in the "Golden Goal". The boys played extremely well despite the frigid temperatures and constant drizzly rain.

EFC 96 BLUE WINS CAPITAL CITY CUP

The 96 Boys started off on the right foot with a win over ASC Rockstars. The next match was against home team LRFC 96 Blue, which the 96s took care of as well. EFC needed a tie or a win to advance and did so by tying the game up in the final minutes of play. The draw allowed the 96s to advance to the finals where they would match up against new rival Celtic 96 Green.

EFC went up on Celtic with a 2-0 lead, but Celtic came back to tie it up and send the match into overtime. At the end of the first five minute overtime, the match was still tied. During the 2nd overtime EFC scored off of a corner kick, only to have the goal taken away on a less than desireable foul. The match was left to be decided by penalty kicks.

Both teams made their first 2 shots. Celtic missed their third shot, but EFC made theirs. The next Celtic shot was blocked by EFC 96 goalie, Andrew Dittemore which left the last shot in the hands of EFC's Jacob Rector. Jacob placed the game winning shot in the back of the net for a final of EFC 3,
Celtic 2.

Congratulations to EFC 96 Blue on a hard fought tournament victory and excellent effort by all. EFC's next tournament outing will be in Topeka, Kansas for the Governor's Cup October 20-22.

96 BOYS PLAY TOUGH IN THE HEAT

In their tournament debut as a competitive team, the EFC 96 Boys Blue made it into the semi-finals at the Edmond Beat The Heat tournament August 12th.

The 96 Boys started off against a tough Wichita team which has been competitive for 4 seasons and yielded 4-3 in a very toughly contested match. In their 2nd match, the boys played the Edmond A team and beat them 4-2. The third game was a shut-out vs Blitz Navy in a very physical match.

The Semi-Finals matched up the 96s with number one seed TSC Red. After getting down 2-0, the Blue team showed a lot of character by coming back and tying the game 2-2. After a couple of near misses which would have given EFC the lead, TSC scored a goal despite the 96s pressing forward in the final minutes. TSC scored again with 1minute left in the game for a final of 2-4.

Over all it was an excellent tournament for 96 eXtreme Blue playing 3 of their 4 games against the eventual tournament champions (TSC), finalist (Wichita), and semi-finalist (ESC).

Congratulations to the boys and Justin Phillip for a great start as a competitive team.
