2008 BEAT THE HEAT GOLD RUNNER UP
It may have not been exactly the color medal they wanted, but it wasn't a bad way to kick off their first competitive season together! Without as much as a single scrimmage under their belts since forming in June, the 98 girls took the field together for the first time at Edmond's annual Beat the Heat pre-season tournament on August 16 & 17. With coach, Dave Yates at the helm, the girls fought through several obstacles to make their way to the Sunday finals. The girls would drop the match 2-0 on a PK , a somewhat questionable goal and numerous EFC drives to the goal that just couldn't find the back of the net. Congrats to the 98s and their successful debut for EFC!

98s END ACADEMY CAREER AS CHAMPS!
The EFA 98 Black squad ended their 2-1/2 year academy career as champions by winning the Tulsa Challenge Cup hosted by the Oklahoma Development League. With an opening 2-1 loss to Thunder 98 Black, the 98s quickly rebounded by posting wins over Hurricane 98 Black 4-1, Blitz 98 Navy 4-1 and 4-0 victory rematch with Thunder 98 Black in the final. After playing boys all season long, it was nice to see how the girls matched up with some of the top '98 girls teams in ODL. Congratuations to 98 Black!

98 BLUE MAKES SEMIS APPEARANCE
At their 2nd tournament, EFA 98 Blue took their game up a notch and make it to the semi-finals of the 2008 NWA Spring Invitational in Bentonville, Arkansas on April 5 & 6.

The girls started off the weekend with back to back wins. The first, a 6-0 win over Ft. Smith Express 98 where 6 different players scored. The second, a 5-1 win over Norman Fury's 98 A team with EFA putting in Fury's only goal with a deflection. Blue would drop its 3rd pool game 3-2 in a tough fight against the Harrison Angels (eventual tournament finalist) with the match being decided in the very last minutes of the match. Despite the loss, the 98s clinched the Wild Card spot on goal differential and made it into the semis against eventual tournament champion NOKC 98 Red. Blue allowed NOKC to go on top 3-0 during the first half of play, but fought back hard during the 2nd half by out attacking NOKC and holding them scoreless. The 98s had more than one opportunity to close the gap, but were just unable to put it in the back of the net.

Congrats to EFA 98 Blue on an awesome tournament!

98s ADD ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP
The EFA 98 Girls added another championship to their resume when 98 Black brought home the 1st place title from TSC's Sam Shannon Cup & Showcase on November 17 & 18. Once again the 98s allowed only 1 goal all tournament while scoring 27 of their own to sweep the U10 Girls division.

98 BLACK BRINGS HOME CLOROX CUP!
Scoring 33 goals and only allowing 1 to be scored against them, the EFA 98 Girls Black squad swept the 2007 Clorox Cup U10 Girls Division in Bentonville, Arkansas on Sept. 15 & 16.

The girls cinched their bracket with an 11-1 victory over NWAL, a 8-0 win over Tulsa's Thunder Red and a 10-0 victory over Springfield Soccer Club. Winning their bracket placed EFA in Sunday's championship match against the quick and aggressive Ingram Comets FC 98. In a fast and physical match, EFA would go on top first and not look back holding Arkansas scoreless in a 4-0 victory. Keeper, Hannah Warner was awarded the MVP trophy of the match for EFA.

98 BLUE SQUAD PARTICIPATES IN FIRST TOURNAMENT
While the end results may not have been what they'd hoped for, 98 Blue didn't let a couple of losses and a LOT of mud get them down! They showed great team play all weekend by trying hard to control and work the ball up the field as opposed to the "kick and run" offenses they faced at the WSA Lil Alliance Cup on March 31 & April 1. "We have come a long way" says Coach Doug Mitchell, "but we have to get much more aggressive and want the ball more!"

With only a half a dozen games together, the squad continues to work hard and is starting to gel as they get to know each other better and get used to playing with each other more every week!

EFA 98 BLACK TRAVELS TO ARKANSAS
The 98 Girls Black Squad traveled to Ft. Smith, Arkansas for the Ft. Smith Express Spring Kick Off Classic on March 10. Playing up in the U10 Academy division, the 98s faced off against '97s and played tough. They started off the weekend with a 1-0 victory over tournament favorite NWA Lightning 97, followed by a disappointing 2-1 loss to the Arkansas Comets who EFA had previously defeated twice in friendly matches. The weekend ended with the 98s domination of WSA 97 and a win. An NWA Lightning win over the Comets would have assured EFA a place in the finals, but the two Arkansas teams' match ended in a 1-1 tie allowing the Comets to advance.

Coach Doug considered the girls' first out of town tournament a great learning experience, stating that he was proud of their play, but identifited several areas they need to start working on.

98 ACADEMY 26 MEMBERS STRONG!
Coach Doug has his hands full! Exploding to 26 members over the winter, the EFA 98 Girls will now field 2 full teams for the upcoming Spring 2007 session of ODL. EFA 98's Blue Squad and Black Squad are back and ready for action on March 4th! With lots of new faces and talent, Extreme is going to be an exciting place to be this spring!

Blue Squad, Black Squad - One Team, EFA 98 Girls!

98 GIRLS CLOSE INDOOR SEASON
The 98 Girls put another successful indoor season in the books with each team posting a win to finish out the final weekend of the season. After a shaky start, the Chelsea Girls finished 2nd in the U9 Girls Competitive league with a record of 6-2-0 and a Goal Differential of 31. The Lady Rovers completed an awesome season in 3rd place playing up in the U10 Girls Recreational division with a record of 5-3-1 and a Goal Differential of 14. With several players new to indoor, the Rovers played tough every weekend against girls that were usually older and twice their size. Despite the difference 2 of their losses were only by 1 goal and a 3rd and final loss by only a margin of 2.

The girls now enjoy a much deserved 3 week break before resuming training full time in preparation for the EFC/EFA Friendlies vs the Arkansas Comets on February 17.

98 GIRLS FIRST SEASON A SUCCESS!
The 98 Girls finished up their first season of ODL on high notes, despite losses.

The Black team opened with HFC 97 Liverpool in a match where EFC dominated everything but the scoreboard. The 98 offense pounded the HFC goalie with countless near misses, but couldn't buy a goal, while the 98 defense held the older HFC team to only 3 shots the entire game. The only goal of the match was an own goal that bounced off of an EFA defender trying to clear the ball. The match ended 1-0.

The Blue team followed up with a very intense match vs the BUSA 98 Boys White team. The EFA 98 midfield stayed busy feeding the ball up while the 98 defense fought hard to keep the BUSA forwards out of the goal. In the end the girls would lose 4-0 to the boys, but Doug was very proud of their effort and of several that really stepped up their game this week!

The day ended with a rematch of the 98 Black team vs. TSC 97 Boys Red. Coach Doug said that even though they came up on the short end of the score, the 98 Black team played 2 of their very best matches of the season today. The 98s moved the ball very well against the high pressure defense of the TSC 97s, while the EFA defense and goalie had outstanding performances holding the strong TSC offensive attack to 2 goals.

Congratulations to the EFA 98 Girls on an outstanding debut in the Oklahoma Development League!

98s PLAY IN FRIENDLIES AT TUSC
EFA 98 was invited to play in friendlies at Tulsa United on Sept. 10. The girls faced off against various area teams in (4) 20 minute mini matches throughout the day. Their first match was a 0-0 tie vs. Attack 98 followed by a loss to BUSA 98 Boys, a 1-1 tie vs. TSC 97 Girls White and capped off with a 3-2 win against the BUSA 98 Girls.

The 98s have formed 2 teams to participate in the Oklahoma Development League this fall. Their season kicks off Sunday,
Sept. 17 at Tulsa United.

Good luck to EFA 98 Black and EFA 98 Blue!

98 GIRLS DO BATTLE WITH COMETS

The 98s traveled to Springdale, Arkansas with 11 other EFC teams
on August 26 for Friendly Matches with the Arkansas Comets. The girls defeated a mixed 97/98 CSA team 3-1 and followed with a hard fought 5-4 win over the CSA 97/98 Travel Team 1.

98s GET READY FOR FRIENDLIES IN ARKANSAS
The 98s took part in their 1st pre-season warm up August 19 by hosting Basira 98 at the Owasso Sports Complex. Trying to squeeze 17 players in to one 8 v 8 game left Coach Doug with a headache, but also a 2-1 win.

Despite the high temps, Doug was pleased with the girls' first outing saying "We played well at times, but had so many players that we never got to stay on the field very long and get any kind of rhythm going together. "

The girls welcome several new members and look forward to traveling to Rogers, AR for Friendly matches against the Arkansas Comets on August 26th.

THREE '98 TEAMS REPRESENT EFA AT QUICKFOOT
The 98 Girls formed 3 teams to participate in the Owasso Soccer Club's 2006 Quickfoot Regional Qualifier July 1 & 2. With names like Strawberry, Grape and Orange, coach Doug formed 2 teams to play in the U8 Girls Division and 1 team to play in the U9 Division. Win or lose, all 3 teams played some really good soccer over the weekend and had lots of fun!

EFA 98 GIRLS - KICK IT!
Two EFA 98 Girls teams participated in the June 3 & 4 Kick It 3v3 tournament at the Union Soccer Club. With only 2 players out of 10 with prior 3v3 experience, no one was quite sure what to expect. But once again, the 98 Girls proved successful relying on their skills, teamwork and giving 100% despite inexperience, multiple games and high temperatures.

Thankfully placed in separate brackets, the EFA teams lucked out by not having to play against each other. EFA 98 Black played tough in their bracket knocking off teams from Basira and Edmond Soccer Club with a record of 3-3. EFA 98 Blue played equally tough shutting out an ESC team 5-0 while tying another ending with a record of 3-1-1.

Doug was very pleased with how the girls played all weekend and considered their first 3v3 experience a huge success!

April 14 - EFA 98 Girls are named the Fuddruckers team of the week.

FIRST TRY AT 8 v 8
The 98 Girls gave the 8 v 8 format a try at the WSA Lil Alliance Cup April 1 & 2. This was the girls' first official attempt at the larger format on the U12 size field. The 98s knew they would be one of the least experienced teams in the tourney due to the fact that many of the other particpants already play 8 v 8 in the Oklahoma Development League. Depsite their inexperience, the girls played hard and learned a lot over the weekend. They posted a 7-0 win over WSA Lil Aliiance before falling to the more experienced Attack 98 4-0 and Basira 4-2.

Coach Doug Mitchell was very proud of the girls' efforts as they battled through injuries, the learning curve and no subs to grow together as a team.

SOCCERCITY WINTER II CHAMPIONS!
The '98 Girls cinched the U8 Girls Competitive Division Championship on Saturday, March 18 with a 10-3 victory over Hurricane Academy 98.

The girls won their division with a record of 7-1-0 with 21 points,
60 Goals for and 20 Goals against for a final commanding GD of 40! The Runner Up in the division, ADP 98 Navy followed with a GD of 8.

Congratulations to the 98 Girls and best wishes for continued success in the upcoming WSA Lil Alliance Cup. EFA is expecting great things from the 98s!

WOW! WHAT A WEEKEND!
The '98 Girls had a busy weekend February 25 & 26th. After a 10-2 indoor win vs. Ahmewah '99, the girls traveled to Sand Springs on Sunday for the WSA Lil Alliance Friendlies. The girls faced off against the LASA '98 Girls with a 12-0 win and then moved on to a much anticipated rematch with the LASA '98 Boys. After losing
5-1 to the boys in October, the girls turned it on spreading the field, driving it down the sidelines and making several beautiful crosses
resulting in a 4-1 win!

ACADEMY TEAMS PARTICIPATE IN CHALLENGER CUP
The 97 & 98 Girls Academy teams competed in the MTsc Challenger Cup series Turkey Showdown on November 26th at the Metro Tulsa Soccer Club (MTsc).

The 98 Girls posted wins against MTsc 98 Red, MTsc 98 White and Dyanmite 99. The girls played hard, but were just edged out of 1st place by a tie-breaking goal in the final minute of the game with the MTsc 98 Boys making the final score 3 -2. The girls outscored their opponents by a whopping 51 goals to 6. Coaches Doug Mitchell (EFC 94 Boys) and Sherrie Pankake were thrilled with the girl's 2nd place finish in their first tournament appearance together and look forward to forming more tournament teams to participate in upcoming Spring & Summer events.

Both teams played eXtremely well in the 6 v 6 format. The 98 Girls won their match against the WSA 98 Girls, but lost their match to the WSA 97/98 boys. All in all, it was a great day with beautiful weather and lots of fun soccer competition!
