Kurt grew up in the Denver area and started playing soccer at the age of 5. At the age of 8 he started playing competitive and premier soccer in Denver. In 1987 he moved to Owasso and played high school varsity ball. An accident during his senior season almost ended his soccer career, but he fought back. He has continued to play competitive adult soccer and has coached and trained many different age groups. He has 2 sons that play soccer in Owasso. He will leave his duties as the Head Coach of the Owasso Soccer Club in June 2007 to coach the EFC 97 Boys.
