Teresa grew up in South Tulsa and started playing soccer at the age of 6. She was also a gymnast from ages 5 to 15. She participated competitively in both sports until age 15 when she gave up gymnastics to concentrate solely on soccer. She was a varsity starter for Jenks High School her sophomore and junior years of high school but tore her ACL at the end of her junior year and spent her senior year rehabilitating her knee.

Teresa played intramural soccer at the University of Kansas but tore her other ACL her sophomore year of college. She continued to coach her intramural teams while rehabilitating her knee and returned to playing afterward. She went on to Washington University in St. Louis to receive her Master's in Physical Therapy.

She moved to Jenks after graduate school and then relocated to Owasso in 2005. She works as a physical therapist at St. John's in Tulsa. She and her husband, Jeff have 2 daughters who both play for Extreme.
